Origin Guide

Caribbean & Latin coffee origins: Puerto Rico, República Dominicana & Colombia

Three origins, three personalities — and why buying them close to the source changes your cup and your margin, wherever in the world you roast or pour.

The short answer

Colombia is the world’s benchmark for washed, balanced specialty coffee at every price tier. República Dominicana delivers Caribbean character with excellent value. Puerto Rico grows some of the world’s scarcest coffee — nearly all consumed on the island, which makes authentic PR lots a genuine rarity on any menu. Brokering close to origin means fewer middlemen, fresher green, and stories your customers can taste.

Three origins, three roles on your menu

Puerto Rico — the rarity

Mountain-grown in Adjuntas, Jayuya, San Sebastián and beyond; smooth, sweet, low-acid profiles. Tiny harvests and island demand make true PR coffee a flagship offering — a story competitors simply cannot buy.

República Dominicana — the value play

Barahona and the central ranges produce chocolatey, round cups that anchor blends and house coffees — Caribbean identity at working prices.

Colombia — the benchmark

From Huila to Nariño, washed caturras and modern process lots that define specialty: bright, clean, endlessly versatile from espresso to filter.

Why close-to-origin brokering wins

Fewer hands between farm and roaster means fresher green coffee, traceable lots, better prices — and relationships with the people who grew it. We ship worldwide from these origins.

Origin questions buyers ask

Do you ship green and roasted coffee internationally?

Yes — we broker green coffee and supply roasted lots to businesses worldwide, in roaster-friendly quantities.

Why is Puerto Rican coffee so hard to find?

Small mountain farms, high labor costs, hurricane-affected harvests and strong island demand mean very little authentic PR coffee ever exports — which is exactly what makes it valuable on a specialty menu.

Can I visit the farms or cup before buying?

Sampling is standard — we send roasted samples for cupping before any production order. Origin visits can be arranged for serious programs.
